EDINBURG, TX – In a strong show of support, South Texans overwhelmingly backed Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) in the primary election, ahead of the November general election. Congresswoman De La Cruz’s resounding victory underscores the enthusiasm for her leadership as she addresses key issues facing the community and the nation.
Congresswoman De La Cruz struck a message of unity, highlighting her commitment to common sense leadership. “This past year I have had the honor of being a voice for all South Texans.”
The Congresswoman added, “Washington may be a telenovela, but every day I bring with me to the nation’s capital the common sense, the values, and the corazón of South Texas — and together we are making a difference.”
Congresswoman De La Cruz also recognized the sacrifices made by veterans, police officers, and Border Patrol agents, thanking them for their service and dedication to the nation. In addition, she celebrated the contributions of women during Women’s History Month, highlighting her record of delivering for the women and families of South Texas.
“We are a kind community that looks out for one another. That’s why I’ve helped introduce policies that strengthen pharmacy benefits for seniors, support families with disabilities, and make it easier for women battling breast cancer to get the care they need. I want our mothers, our sisters, and our tias to know that I will always have their backs,” said Congresswoman De La Cruz.
In addition, Congresswoman De La Cruz emphasized her legislative accomplishments fighting for an economy that uplifts working families, advocating for border security, and introducing legislation that protects Medicare and Social Security for seniors.
“This is very personal to me: I would not be here had it not been for the sacrifices of my grandparents. So, I have made protecting the hard-earned Medicare and Social Social Security benefits of our abuelitos one of my very top priorities because I believe that our seniors deserve to live their golden years with dignity,” De La Cruz stated.
